In 1999, his BBC show The Naked Chef debuted, and his cookbook became a bestseller in the United Kingdom.[9] That same year, Oliver was invited to prepare lunch for the then-Prime Minister Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street.[9]

Oliver is the second-best-selling British author, behind J. K. Rowling, and the best-selling British non-fiction author since records began.[18] As of February 2019[update], Oliver has sold more than 14.55 million books, generating just under 180m for the chef.[19]

Oliver has severe dyslexia, and read his first novel, Catching Fire, by American novelist Suzanne Collins (the second book in the three-book The Hunger Games series) in 2013, at the age of 38.[88]

Kidnapped and taken to a frozen land after the fierce battle with Lord Morgarath, Will and Evanlyn are bound for Skandia as captives. Halt has sworn to rescue his young apprentice, and he will do anything to keep his promise--even defy his king. Expelled from the Rangers, Halt is joined by Will's friend Horace as he travels toward Skandia. On the way, they are challenged again and again by freelance knights--but Horace knows a thing or two about combat. Soon his skills begin to attract the attention of warlords for miles around. But will he and Halt be in time to rescue Will?
